The Gite du Rocher, situated in the historic part of the village of Auzat, is nestled in the valley of Vicdessos, at the foot of the Montcalm mountain, the highest peak in Ariège (3050m alt).

Located on the banks of the Saleix, the stream assures an agreeable and fresh temperature in the hights of summer, with the gentle and calming sound of the stream’s waters to help you put the hustle and bustle behind you, and relax into your holiday.

Although ample parking facilities are available in close proximity to the house, the gite is easily accessed by a short walk through the old stone-built alleyways of this historic neighbourhood ‘The Barri’, taking it’s name from the fortifications that once surrounded this part of the village. The abscence of cars in the immediate vicinity make this gite particularly suited to guests holidaying with children, or anyone wishing to benefit from the calm that this affords.

Many activities are available within a short distance of the gite. The village is reputed for it’s position at the start of many walking itineraries, and is conveniently located close to the GR10, the coast-to-coast footpath that traverses France, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast, following the Pyrenées.
